WE WON WE WON WE WON! WE BEAT THE ANGELS!
Oh Archie....! Love Edith Bunker!
Ok, THAT said, let's discuss the Kevin Brown experiment. I'm sorry- did I say Kevin Brown? I MEANT Zack Greinke. Same difference. And the fact that during the post game interview, when Greinke was questioned by reporters about the way he pitched and the way the Team has been playing lately, Greinke indicated he felt that we [Dodgers] have been playing "pretty good lately... solid baseball." He also indicated that he didn't feel his pitching was too bad tonight. REALLY?? He gave up 6 runs in 4 innings. He does know which team he plays for now, right? The Angels have been on a winning streak. We broke that winning streak tonight, (no thanks to Greinke). We played like a TEAM because we were PLAYED LIKE A TEAM. There are more than nine guys on a Team. Looks like someone finally remembered that. Despite a couple defensive issues, the Dodgers pulled it off, and pulled it off in a big way. Tonight's game was definitely a wake up call. For Dodgers AND fans. (Pst! Puppy! Wake up! Dodgers won!)The wake up call is this: SEE? YOU CAN DO IT!!! Let's see if we can keep something going. And I am SO VERY OKAY with switching the line-up like we did tonight. I would like to see Kemp's bat come alive sometime this season, but I'll take the win however it comes. Especially against the Angels and their fans. Went to Anaheim Stadium once. The fans didn't strike me as passionate. They were very polite about their clapping. I suppose that's fine if one is watching golf. I prefer cheering. Heart. Soul. Passion. Nothing crass, just passion. Like Isabella Rossellini....
When I was little, Grandpa sat me on his lap and taught me who Steve Garvey and Ron Cey were. I knew who Tommy Lasorda was at age two. I learned about Davey Lopes and Bill Russell. And I learned to frown upon the Angels and Yankees. (The Giants came later; I never understood why Grandpa didn't mention them....) I adored Grandpa and his passion for the game and the Dodgers. This whole loyalty to the Dodgers started with him. Many fans, including Grandpa {when he was still alive- oh how I miss him!}, say they "bleed Dodger Blue." Me personally, I can't stand the sight of blood. So I prefer to say myself I breathe Dodger Blue." Maybe because I'm an asthmatic it makes more emotional sense to me? Enough ramble: We won! Tomorrow the freeway series continues: GO Blue!
