July 31, 2012 PreGame GAB: Welcome to Los Angeles Shane!

THIS IS HUGE! There is no getting around it and no small way to put this, so I'll just say it and move onto my thoughts on it: SHANE VICTORINO IS AN L.A. DODGER! SWEEEET!
Ok, let's break this down: Victorino hails from Hawaii, was originally drafted by the Dodgers in 1999 and spent some time in the minors. He spent a little time with the Padres and a little too much time with the Phillies. We need him now. *Thank you Philly. This recovering vegetarian may have a cheese steak in your honor tonight.

Heard Hunter Pence is joining the Giants - looks like they're all coming out west. As long as your cleaning house can we have Cliff Lee too? In the last seven days, Victorino's average is .421. The Phillies may be in last in their division, but something tells me Shane has nothing to do with that. Here's the thing: NOW that the Dodgers have a legit budget and AWESOME owners L.A. can finally start attracting quality players. Oh sure, I was among the many who booed Victorino when he'd come up to bat wearing that exasperating Phillies uniform. But those days are over. I refuse to live in the past. Shane Victorino is a Dodger now. Ladies, if you're new to the baseball thing and want to put it into perspective, this is the best I can come up with: Remember in grade school there was probably a boy who pulled your ponytail- oooh! {foot stamp} How infuriating was that! But then he was nice to you? And then you're like... "Ok. You may live." Yeah, one of those moments. But this is better because we're grown-ups now and we can put it into perspective. (Yes, that is indeed Brigitte Bardot- love her!) And ESPN Sports already has an image of Shane with an L.A. cap on. ESPN Victorino pic and info Sweet! "I SEE YOU!" may be accompanied by a shaka/hang loose sign I am thinking. Given the fact I was on an island for 14 months recently, I'll be sure to look for it tonight at the game. This Team is really shaping up nicely! Being an outfielder, I can only assume Victorino will be in left field. I'm also curious to know what number he'll choose to wear, how soon he will be put into the starting line-up, if he likes fajitas...all the stuff we Girls tend to allow ourselves to ponder when a new man comes into our lives. But Shane isn't exactly new- he's a veteran now. And he's come full circle- back to L.A. where he started in an oh-so-distant amateur draft sixth round circa 1999. Welcome to {back to} L.A. Shane! Meet your Teammates: Matt, Andre, Hanley, and ALL the Boys in Blue! Let's take back FIRST for ourselves... It's time for Dodger baseball! See you at the Ravine!
