Kershaw on the mound. Dodgers led by two in the beginning. Then,... I made a phone call.
I know, Ernie,... I know.... I broke the house rules. I drew my focus away from the game. There was no reason to do it: no fire, no one lost a limb. The dogs didn't even need to go out. I didn't need to go vote. Full tank in my car for the morning. BUT I JINXED IT! Just like a certain wicked witch of some compass based direction or other...I'm sorry guys! Next thing I know, I look up, Kershaw gives up a two run homer, and the game is tied. I'M SORRY! Ok, I had to call my dad. He's been going through a rough time. Dear New Girls, Baseball is the most superstitious game like... ever. I have to wear the right outfit or they lose. Clearly I have serious wardrobe shopping to do.
We. Are. In. Last. Right now. Ugh. Maybe an ensemble like Carrie Bradshaw's is in order...
We lost. Again. Seventh in a row. This is no bueno.
But I really shoudla known better: when the game is on, PAY ATTENTION. GIRL TALK: WE don't like it when someone isn't paying attention to US when WE feel they should be doing so... I think I felt a subtle breeze smack me upside my head after... I'll call it Grandpa. *sigh... No excuses, just 'splaining myself. Here's the thing: Kershaw was doing relatively fine, but he was off a bit. One thing I like about Kershaw is that he doesn't seem to get stuck in his head. He makes the necessary adjustments and moves forward. And frankly, I know he'll be fine next time. Dear Self: Take a lesson. Ladies, how often does THAT happen to us? Kershaw knows how to adjust and move forward. We should all be so lucky as to have that skill. See how it always comes back to baseball? I have never found any situation- personally that couldn't be related to our national pass time. That's the beauty of it. Oh, and to add to my self inflicted jinx guilt trip, I think I wore the wrong outfit again because Sellers was sent to AAA.
Yes Gidget, I feel the same way. What ever that look is...
Don't get me wrong, I like Dee Gordon, and he's batting well right now. But I prefer Sellers' glove. And he's been working hard. AND I owned him on my Fantasy Baseball team. Grrr...Let's hope we figure out something soon and find a way to bring him back. At this point though, I'd settle for for simply figuring something out soon. The good news is that we're in last place: THEREFORE IT CAN"T GET ANY WORSE. No place to go but up. GO Blue! (No Game tomorrow- Marlins come to town Friday.)
