"...And blue so far above us comes so high,
It only gives our wish for blue a whet."
-Robert Frost, Fragmentary Blue
That's Reserved Level. Right field side.
I got chills as I read about the legendary Sandy Koufax arriving at Spring Training today. He even reportedly stopped to sign a few autographs. I kinda wanted to cry- how lucky were those fans?? Now, the fact that Sandy Koufax is an extremely private person makes me hesitate to even write his name and thus draw attention to our #32 Icon.. However, seeing as he has signed on for a year to assist the Dodgers, I can say this (as I did when it was announced awhile back as well): I am thrilled down to my toes to the inside of my Stella McCartney heels....
The legendary Sandy Koufax has so much to offer in the way of his experience and wisdom. His presence alone is an inspiration. That said, as I read through some Robert Frost tonight on a whim, I discovered a poem I was not familiar with: Fragmentary Blue. How could I have never read this one? Seriously, it has Blue in the title! Granted the meanings go to the skies and other poetic metaphors but the last two lines summed it up for me as a lifelong Dodger fan, and I considered the possibilities that await the Dodgers in 2013: I believe anything is within reach, and that the time to be inspired and in awe is now.... the look on Rita Hayworth's face says it all...
Welcome home Mr. Koufax. Welcome home....
