DOH!
Clearly we need to do better than that. We can. And we will. Still, it's hard to watch your team get trounced on the first game of Spring Training, 9-0. On one hand hand, I'm thinking: "Hey, it's the first game. Someone always has to lose. In any game. I mean, this isn't hockey or even football where apparently things can end in a tie if it's simply time to go home. Whatever with that. That's one of the things I love about baseball: it's not over till it's over. Yes, there have been a few rare occasions that have resulted in a tie, but those have been left to the discretion of higher ranks on a case to case basis. Many times it would be the result of a weather condition such as buckets of rain after the game had already started.
Buckets of Rain... Pretty sure that was a Bob Dylan song,....
Me personally I prefer to sing in the rain...
No one could out-dance Gene Kelly...
I digress...
Where was I.... Ah yes, my original point being that it's Spring Training...as annoying as a 9-0 loss is, it's not a sign of the season to come. No need to get discouraged. Dear Kershaw, You are awesome. Listen to Sandy. Take your time. They ain't got nothin' on you. Dear Belesario, Same goes for you. New Girls: Remember, Kershaw is our Ace. Belesario is one of our relief pitchers. GIRL TALK: I can relate. I mean, I can see the parallels here. When we see our Guy or Friend is having a bad day, we care. We're a fan. On the other hand, we know they can do better - and that they will- so we're not too worried. We're here to support and throw out the love...
Ever hear the advice: "Just picture the Audience in their underwear." (Who came UP with that??) Ok, trust me, that is not how I want to picture the opposing team, and I am sure Kershaw and Belesario would be inclined to agree with me. So here is what I propose: picture the other Team as ...Trash. Yeah, I said it. Picture the other Team as missing a few teeth, maybe some mullets, and
content looks on their faces as they strut their white tees....
NOW maybe our Guys can know that they ain't got nothin' on us. It's a psyche game. Do not let the others get inside your head.
Again, Girls, YOU know what I am talking about:
Don't let 'em get to you. There's plenty of preseason left and the WHOLE season to be played. A whole season of visualizing the other team with mullets.
With Much Love to the Boys in Blue and All the Girls out there who may read this and can relate...
GO Blue!
