Don't be "That" Fan...

So how 'bout them Dodgers, heh? Gotta love the Boys in Blue. I'll start there on a good note. Kershaw was a bit off tonight but still held the Cubs to a minimum before he left the mound. He didn't get the run support as often happens when he pitches, so I can't blame him. He did his job. We still lost. That said, I'd like to take a moment to discuss Fan Manners. In general. Not just for Dodger Fans, not just for the Ladies, but for all Fans. First and foremost, DO NOT bring a beach ball. It's not allowed in the Stadium first of all, and second, other people have paid decent money for their seats to watch the ball game happening on the field, not to get beaned in the face with a 99 cent blow up toy. There's my soapbox on that nonsense. However, if one is bouncing around and someone applauds when it goes over the edge, second rule of my list of Fan Manners on this subject is this: be civilized and do not "BOO" the person applauding the ball going over the edge. This includes children- allowing children to stand on their seats and scream "BOO" in someone's face is not only bad manners on the child's part, but also poor form on the parent's part- especially when the parent laughs at this behavior. (It's also unsafe- allowing the child to stand on the seat.) Ugh. And when it happens again a second time (a second game- same section though- same Fans), then it's just really uncivilized. Don't be "that" Fan. Don't be "that" Parent. Teach manners. Instead of "scolding" the adult who applauded and commented on the beach ball going over, (and then of course the child "scolded" the adult as well because, well, that's what is allowed apparently), have the child sit and watch the game you paid good money for as well. You all have to sit next to each other for a few hours- hopefully you all want to enjoy the ball game. The baseball game I mean. If you want to play beach ball, may I suggest going to the beach. It's free, and the people who have paid to and want to watch baseball will be able to do their thing. Before the start of every game at Dodger Stadium, they show this quick clip on Fan Code of Conduct. They address things like foul language not being tolerated and the no-nos of drinking and driving. Basically the Dodgers are doing their part to help everyone get along and enjoy the Game in a safe and civilized manner. We as Fans need to do our part as well. Keep it Classy. All of us need to be THAT Fan.
That said, enough soapbox for one night. I'll end with this: Kershaw is still our Ace as far as I'm concerned. As always, GO Blue!
